February Writing Prompt
On Love and Death
This month Momento Mori and 26 invite you to write about the relationship between love and death. What does it mean to love something or someone knowing that as mortals our time together is limited?
Write about the loss of a loved one, or worries about losing someone you love. Fiction, creative non-fiction, and poetry are also welcome, as are images and hybrid pieces.
Here are some suggestions from grief support program Henry Ford Sandcastles to get you started:
The one thing I miss most is…
A song that makes me think of the person who died is… and here is why
What rituals or traditions did you share with your loved one? How can you honor those traditions in their absence?
Describe a dream or a vivid memory involving your loved one.
Create a timeline of significant moments in your relationship with your loved one.
Do you have any unanswered questions about your person or the death?
Describe a time you told someone about the death…
Reply in the comments here or if you are a 26.org.uk member, submit your piece via the pitch document for publication in Momento Mori.
